Qualifications:
Essential - Masters degree in M.Sc. in Animal Genetics/Molecular ecology/ Biotechnology/Zoology/ Wildlife Science or M.V.Sc. in Animal Genetics with minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
Desirable - Candidates with an aptitude for doing field work, data collection and analysis, working experience in electrophoresis and molecular genetics and DNA sequencing etc., and knowledge of computer applications will be preferred.
Description of Work:
The project aims to study to study genetic diversity in wild and domestic pigs and to find the level of hybridization between wild and domestic pigs based on genetic variability in and around the Ranthambore National park, and to examine the possibility of hybridization between wild and domestic pigs in other parts of the country. The job requirements are to collect pig samples from field areas and to undertake DNA extraction, PCR amplification and DNA sequencing for genotyping work.
Remuneration:
Selected candidate for the position of Junior Research Fellow will be paid a consolidated emoluments of Rs. 12,000/- per month. In case of NET qualified candidates (UGC/CSIR) for Research Fellows, the selected JRF will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 16,000/- per month and in case of NET qualified (UGC/CSIR) candidates with Professional P.G. Degree, he/she will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 18,000/- per month as fellowship.
Selection:
Based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Monday, 19th March 2012 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration will begin by 09:00 A.M. onwards. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
