Butterflies of India, is an internet-based and peer-reviewed resource devoted to Indian butterflies. It is developed by the Indian Foundation for Butterflies ("IFoundButterflies"), an organization of butterfly biologists and butterfly-watchers, who work towards research and conservation of Indian butterflies.
This dataset contains spot records of butterflies from all over India, based on spot records that are available on the Butterflies of India website (http://ifoundbutterflies.org). The data contains: (a) subspecies-level, taxonomically updated names of butterflies, (b) sex, seasonal form and other relevant details of the specimen, (c) latitude-longitude information for each spot record, with additional information on the specific locality, protected area status such as national park and wildlife sanctuary, if any.
