Mapping Neighbourhood Frogs and Toads

microhyla laterite

Monsoon is around the corner. It is the time for mapping hyperactive Frogs and Toads. We will try to map a focal species throughout the monsoon. The  focal species this time will be the Malabar Tree Toad (Pedostibes tuberculosus). It is an Endemic Toad of the Western Ghat. Its current IUCN status is Endangered B1ab(iii). Current known localities include Ponmudi, Silent Valley, Anamalais in Kerala; Kudremukh, Charmudi, Agumbe, Kathalekan, Anshi in Karnataka ; Cotigao in Goa ; Koyna in Maharashtra.  Since last year we were able to aggreagate over 35 records of this species on Frog Watch.

Upload your sightings of this species to help map and understand its distribution and habitat requirement. Eventually the activity will help in conservation of the species as well as its habitat.

For further information on the species see here.

You can also use the  IBP android app or iOS app, to upload observations and the Frog Find app as aid in the field
