This year The Voices from the Waters - the biggest international film festival and open platform on water unfolds its 5th edition across Bangalore from 27th to 30th August, 2010. A selection of the best and most acclaimed films specially curated for the festival will play at 6 venues across the city interspersed with songs, photo and art exhibitions, installations, water walks, interactive sessions with water activists and film directors and culminating in a conference. The current edition of the festival seeks to reach out to students, professionals, activists, organizations and the general public not just as an exercise in awareness of some of the most urgent issues looming over the future of our planet but as part of the intricate design of the fabric of the festival where they are the medium that remember, claim and affirm water as a fundamental human right and the source of all life.

Highlights of Voices from the Waters 2010:

• Walk with Water/Neeranadige (21st August, 2010): A rally by college students from different points across the city in the name of the lakes and waters of the city.
• Inter-College Essay Competition on Water and Environment.
• Unveiling of invocation and inaugural film by chief guest National award-winning actress Umashree , presided by well-known environmental activist Mr. Suresh Heblikar(Friday 27th August 2010).
• Paintings and Photography Exhibition and Art Installations (Alliance Francaise de Bangalore).
• Water Voices: Grass-root level water activists narrate the stories of their lives lived in the name of water and Film directors discuss their films culminating in a Conference (Monday 31st August 2010).
