Small much branched trees. Leaves alternate, up to 12 x 5 cm, elliptic or lanceolate, obtuse or acute, reddish brown when dry and rather thin; branchlets nearly white. Flowers shortly pedicelled; female long pedicelled; pedicels with few small obtuse bracts. Petals of both sexes oblong, of the male longer than the sepals, of the female shorter. Fruiting calyx obovate, obtuse, with a glandular pit on back near the tip. Stamens about 10. Ovary strigose. Capsule slightly hispid-villous, shortly lobed; seeds oblong, mottled.
