About Me
I have been a lifelong wildlife enthusiast, with my father being a zookeeper and my mother a park ranger. Though my degrees are in biophysics and education and my profession for most of my career was as a science teacher, I have been doing ecology work on the side for years. Since I was a young child, my special interest has been in reptiles and amphibians. My current projects include a reptile and amphibian citizen science database (http://www.naherp.com) in North America, a field guide to reptiles and amphibians (http://bangkokherps.wordpress.com) in Bangkok, and a python research project (https://www.facebook.com/bangladeshpythonproject) in Bangladesh. I have also written for Herp Nation Magazine and the Living Alongside Wildlife blog. I am a devoted conservationist and humanitarian who believes that humanity can not exist unless we care better for the natural world alongside us, and the natural world will not continue to exist unless we take good care of all of humanity as well.

Outside of my interests in wildlife and conservation, I am involved in NGO management, focusing on projects that bring education to poor communities. I relocated to India to pursue this vocation in 2012, and am currently involved with a literacy project in Lucknow. I still have a lot to learn about India's wildlife, and am just now beginning to gain familiarity with the reptiles and amphibians present in north India.
